A man has died after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster, South Yorkshire Police confirmed on Saturday.

Officers were called at 13:35 BST to reports of the man entering the tiger enclosure. The tiger attacked him, and he died at the scene. Police said the tiger remained uninjured in the enclosure and posed no wider public risk.

The man's family has been informed and is being supported by officers. The park was evacuated and remains closed for the remainder of the weekend.

A park spokesperson said: "We are deeply saddened by today's tragic incident. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the family and loved ones of the person who has lost their life." The park confirmed it is working closely with police and relevant authorities to establish what happened.

Police urged the public not to share videos of the incident circulating online.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park opened in 2009. Its Land of the Tigers area, a two-acre reserve opened in 2011, houses Amur tigers, an endangered subspecies with approximately 500 remaining in the wild. The enclosure features high walkways for visitors and overhead fencing where the tigers roam.
